Silvertips battle to the end
March 15, 2007
The North Island Silvertips made their first ever playoff appearance this past weekend against the Bruins and come very close to moving through to the final four . Friday night saw the Silvertips control the game and took a 1-0 series lead with a convincing 5-2 win. Saturday , the Tips looked to move on to the next round but got off to a slow start and fell behind 2-0. The Silvertips worked hard in the second and third but could not get the goal they needed to get back in the game and eventually fell to the Bruins, 3-0. With the series now tied at 1-1 and the deciding game 3 Sunday, the Silvertips knew they had to play their best game in order to move on. Some may say Sunday was their best game the year. The silvertips had a 2-1 lead in the game. A few bounces the wrong way and the Silvertips found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-2 score and a first round exit from the playoffs. The team played great and just didn't get the bounces said coach Brad Knight, couldn't have asked for a better effort. That's playoff hockey.
The Silvertips did have a great season. They represented the North Island proudly and showed the province that the North Island has great hockey players and that the Silvertips are a team to be reckoned with every weekend.
This marks the end of a great season. The Silvertips coaches, players and management would like to thank all of our sponsors for their tremendous support. As well as to all the fans who came to the games, you were great, we thank you as well. This is just the start of a great Silvertips tradition and we look forward to an even better season next year.
